Part-time timetables for 2013-14

The timetables for the part-time MSc in Computing programmes are now available on the DIT timetables site.

All modules available to part time students are shown under the Programme Timetable by entering programme DT228B.

In addition, a number of class groups have been set up for the different streams.  When you access the timetables choose to print a Class Group Timetable and enter 228B (note no DT).  A list of available class groups which distinguish between year 1 or 2+ and stream ASD, IKM and DA are available.

Students who are on the older programmes, namely DT217, DT217A, DT230B, DT286 will find their modules under the class group for the appropriate stream.    Students on DT210 or DT202A should use the full programme timetable to locate their modules.

The Saturday schedule for 2013 is also now available in the link to the left of this blog.

Please note that there may be slight changes to rooms etc so be sure to recheck the timetables prior to attending your first classes.

Role Title – Customer Base Analyst
You will work within the Customer Base Management Analytics team part of the Database Marketing Directorate which also includes Insights and Research.  This role is a strategic enabler to Brandtone monetisation of its 20 million and growing consumer database through driving consumer acquisition & churn retention activity in addition to revenue generation activity.
The position requires someone with excellent analytical skills, strong communication, planning and influencing skills along with the ability to work under pressure. You will be self-driven and need to work effectively as part of a team in a fast paced multi-dimensional environment.
  • Mine consumer data using SQL / Business Objects / Excel to identify best prospect consumers to be stimulated for follow up activity
  • Perform statistical analysis to map and identify genuine trends and relationships
  • Segment and extract best prospect consumer cohorts for direct marketing (DM) campaigns
  • Complete post campaign DM analysis to identify consumer uptake and make recommendations based on test messages to the full scale
  • Work with the customer base manager to create predictive models to enhance revenue through the next best activity offer engine
  • Work with markets and internal teams to enhance the DM campaign manager
  • Comfortable presenting insights on commercial matters and recommendations to senior audiences
Requirements:
·      Experience of Data Mining / Analytics Tools – passion for numbers
·      Experience with data visualization tools, BI Reporting Tools and advanced Excel
·      Strong SQL (Oracle) with experience querying large, complex data sets
·      Knowledge of data modelling and data warehousing processes and concepts
·      Experience developing & delivering reporting & analysis in a demanding environment
·      Sound commercial acumen
·      Excellent verbal & written communication skills; ability to effectively communicate and present data
·      Ability to work cross functionally and across the markets we operate in
·      Ability to relate to both business and IT specialists

The Role

Job Purpose:

The Social and Economic Development Unit (SEDU) in Concern Worldwide is responsible for providing support to country teams in the areas of Food, Income and Markets (FIM) (what is sometimes referred to as Livelihoods) programmes, social protection and education. The FIM programmes include Community Based Natural Resource Management, Agriculture and Interaction with Markets (which includes Micro Finance). A new strategy has been developed and will be launched before then of 2013.
Part of this is a commitment to the use of ICT solutions in programme planning, in particular the use of digital data gathering solutions and matching this data to a GIS programme.
The intention of this position is to work alongside the FIM team in Dublin to produce a series of reports and maps that can be utilised for programme planning and monitoring and produce a brief document .
Main duties &
Responsibilities:

·       Analyse and present data collected through DDG
·       Use GIS to present and analyse spatial relationships in data sets from the field  
·       Demonstrate the benefits of GIS to staff.
·       Prepare at least two case studies for wider distribution on the use of technology in our FIM programmes with recommendations for the future
·       Oversee the production of at least two editions of an internal newsletter for all staff.
·       Technical support a series of webinar trainings provided to FIM and Education technical staff at field level by advisers from the Dublin and London Offices.
Person specification:


Essential:
  • To have completed at least an undergraduate third level course on a subject related to development issues
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Word, including an ability to utilise Microsoft Publisher
  • Interest in   the use and application of GIS software to development projects.
  • Good analytical skills, including using MS Excel and SPSS to analyse data sets
  • Ability to present data clearly to a diverse audience
  • Attention to administrative details
  • Self-learning for new software
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
  • Flexible and adaptable, with an ability to work as part of a team.
Desirable:
  • Ability to communicate in French
  • Previous experience of GIS software.
