Problem Solving class 11/12/2013

Hi all,

due to a scheduling error on my behalf, there will be no Problem Solving class today. So I just wanted to thank everyone for their participation in the module.

 In terms of submitting your portfolios:

If you want to drop off a hard copy today, I am in the Blueroom doing demos all day, but pop in at 12:45 or 3:30 and I can take them. The Blueroom is located on the fourth floor of the Main Kevin Street building in the staff canteen, take the lift up the the fourth floor and it's on your right.

If you are submitting in January, please send me everything you have electronically by Jan 1st, and drop in a hardcopy by Jan 10th, drop it off in A324 or let me know when you are in and I'll pick it up.

January Dissertation Submissions

*** This message is of those students who commenced their MSc Dissertation Project last September.***

The first possible submission date for dissertations is Monday 6th January, 2014 before 1pm
No extensions are possible to this date and time.

If I do not receive a dissertation submission before 1pm I will assume you will be submitting on 24th March.

If you intend to submit your dissertation on 6th January you should discuss this with your supervisor.

Submitting your Dissertation
Submit your dissertation in PDF format via email to Brendan Tierney.  Make sure that the document conforms with the dissertation template, formatting and page lengths.  All of this information is available on the Dissertation webpage.

You do not need to submit a printed dissertation document on the 6th January.

Presentations
The presentation of your dissertations will be during week of 20th January.  I will be posting a provisional presentation schedule on the 6th January.

You will have a maximum of 30 minutes for your presentation and discussions. This will consist of maximum of 15 minutes for your presentation and will be followed by 10 minutes for discussion.

You should bring your presentation of a USB key.

Access to the Annex building can be made through the entrance on Church lane, and through the courtyard entrance as the main building will be closed on Saturday.

Part-time timetables for 2013-14

The timetables for the part-time MSc in Computing programmes are now available on the DIT timetables site.

All modules available to part time students are shown under the Programme Timetable by entering programme DT228B.

In addition, a number of class groups have been set up for the different streams.  When you access the timetables choose to print a Class Group Timetable and enter 228B (note no DT).  A list of available class groups which distinguish between year 1 or 2+ and stream ASD, IKM and DA are available.

Students who are on the older programmes, namely DT217, DT217A, DT230B, DT286 will find their modules under the class group for the appropriate stream.    Students on DT210 or DT202A should use the full programme timetable to locate their modules.

The Saturday schedule for 2013 is also now available in the link to the left of this blog.

Please note that there may be slight changes to rooms etc so be sure to recheck the timetables prior to attending your first classes.
