Systems Architectures lecture 15-12-2011 + extension to CA deadline

(1) There will be no lecture this evening (15-12-2011) due to illness.

(2) It has been brought to my attention that there are two broken links on my web-page (the second CA and the exams questions related to new material). I have emailed the files to the list of emails that I have for the class. If I have missed anybody email me and I can send you a copy. As one of the links is the assignment and this may have caused delays in some of you undertaking the work, I am extending the deadline until the 22nd December.

Congratulations to Liam Carey - DIT MSc in Computing Student and Eircom Spider Winner

Congratulations to Liam Carey a student on the MSc in Computing (Information and Knowledge Management) who was  presented with an Eircom Spider award on 10th November 2011   for his website Bandpages.ie, which Liam set up in 2010.

Bandpages.ie is an on-line directory for booking ‘live’ music acts in Ireland for events such as weddings, private parties, special events, pubs and music clubs. The website was launched in 2010 after securing a ‘priming grant’ from Dublin City Enterprise Board.

Dubbed the Oscars of the digital world, the Eircom Spiders Awards are an annual event honouring Irish individuals and organisations for their outstanding achievements online and celebrating the successes of the Irish internet and digital media. This year’s awards took place in the Convention Centre Dublin and were hosted by comedian Dara O’Briain. During the awards ceremony Liam’s website Bandpages.ie was declared category winner for being “clean, simple, and easy to use”.

Many congratulations to Liam on his success to date and best wishes for the future of Bandpages.ie
